About
Why we built Formulary
The problem we kept seeing
We have spent years building software for people who do skilled, technical work for a living. Across every industry we worked in, we kept running into the same pattern: professionals with deep craft knowledge, managing complex and genuinely valuable data in spreadsheets that were never designed for the job.
Formulary started as a question. A perfumer we were working with showed us how they managed their formulas, their supplier relationships, their inventory, and their production runs. It was all there, distributed across files and folders and notebooks and memory. We asked what a purpose-built tool would look like for someone who takes this craft seriously. Then we built it.
What we believe
Your formulas are your IP.
We never access, share, or use your formula data for anything other than running the software. Your formulations are yours, completely.
Good tools get out of the way.
Formulary is designed for perfumers, not for software people. If something requires a manual, we have failed.
Serious craft deserves serious tools.
The indie perfumery space has been underserved by software for too long. A spreadsheet is not a formula management system.
Transparency over marketing.
We show you exactly what the AI is doing and why, so you stay in control. No black boxes, no surprise charges, no dark patterns.
Built for perfumers, by people who care about craft
We are not perfumers. But we have spent a long time listening to people who are, and building exactly what they asked for. Formulary is the result.
